Love and Wisdom Follow-up Day Retreat

A follow-up retreat to the day course held on Saturday, October 16: a chance to take the practices taught there deeply to heart, so that we can better integrate them into our lives.

3 Sessions: Saturday, October 23
10:00 - 11:15am | 11:45 - 1:00pm | 2:30 - 3:45pm | 10am - 3:45pm
$6 session / $15 for the day / free for members

It is said that 'all you need is love', but that depends on what you understand love to be. Sometimes our misunderstanding of love causes problems in our relationships. Buddha taught that we need wisdom as well. Through combining love with wisdom we develop a pain-free love that only causes happiness. Wisdom has many levels, but at its deepest it is an intuitive understanding that our world and life are not separate from our mind. Hence the key to harmonious relationships and a joyful life lies in transforming our own mind, rather than in changing the other person or the external situation.

In this retreat we will learn simple yet effective meditations for cultivating such transformative love and wisdom.

In particular through learning to investigate our own mind we will learn how to discover and filter out the underlying resentments and disappointments that cause such pain in our relationships. Instead we will learn how to view ourselves and others in a way that brings out our good qualities, and that allows us to use even the difficulties in our relationships as opportunities for spiritual growth. Integrating these methods into our daily lives will free us from feeling stuck in our lives or in the past, and will open us to the extraordinary potential for lasting happiness that exists in all of us.
